What's new:
  • CASA is continuing to serve children during the COVID-19 outbreak. However, we  are making some changes, including:
    • Our office is closed to visitors effective Monday, March 16. We can be reached by email at rappcasa@gmail.com. Staff will often but not always be reachable on the office phone at 540-710-6199. Volunteers, feel free to call our cell phones.
    • We've canceled our March 25 training event. We encourage volunteers to watch The Trials of Gabriel Fernandez on Netflix instead.
    • Our CASA volunteers will remain in contact with the children they serve as well as with others involved in their cases, but we are advising them to temporarily do so from a distance, using technology, to minimize health risks.
    • Volunteers: Cease all in-person visits until further notice. Please keep in close touch with the children you're serving by FaceTime, Skype, phone, etc. Please also keep in touch with their foster parents, parents, social workers and others using technology. Good communication and listening are important during stressful times! For more information about advocating during the pandemic, click here.
  • Our next volunteer training session is tentatively scheduled to start Monday, Sept. 14, 2020. To participate or get more details, please get in touch: 540-710-6199 or rappcasa@gmail.com.
  • CASA recently received a $5,000 grant from the Duff McDuff Green Jr. Fund of The Community Foundation. This grant will help cover important training, technology and material costs. We're so grateful to the fund advisers for their investment in CASA!
  • Virginia has its own statewide CASA website, with lots of information about programs around the state; how to volunteer; CASA's role; and how to report suspected child abuse and neglect. Click here to check it out.
  • A reminder about our location. Our address is now 509 C Lafayette Blvd., Fredericksburg, VA, 22401. Our phone number remains 540-710-6199.
